  • I did not start going to this church until I was 8 years old. I had been to churches before, but I had never been able to connect with God or the Bible. I was not a believer and thought religion was stupid. When I first came to Expectation (at the time it was known as Fair Oaks Church) I was astonished at how different it was from all other churches I had been to. First of all, there was a separate church learning experience meant just for the kids. The Bible lessons were formatted into little theatre shows which were entertaining, but also educational at the same time. I was able to learn more about God and Jesus while having fun. Now, I am a part of the church's youth group and am growing deeper in my faith every meeting by connecting with God and experiencing Him in a very real way. The head Pastor loves history and reading so he is very knowledgeable and makes connections between the Bible and modern events. The worship band includes more modern styles of Christian music that makes the experience feel more alive and engaging with the Lord. I used to hate church because none of the churches I went to truly believed in being selfless and tried to help people reach the Lord. I love Expectation Church because they do this and so much more. They believe firmly in the importance of serving because we are the hands and feet of the body of Christ. They also believe in community and encourage people to not just run into the church for the service and right back out unnoticed, but also to connect with the people who make up the church. I strongly recommend this to everyone and anyone no matter where you are in your walk with the Lord or even if you don't have relationship with Him. This church helped steer me onto the right path for me to know the Lord and to call on His name.

  • A good church that focuses on community. Pastor Stokes is an academic preacher who does a great job of setting the historical context for the Bible, which I find to be quite helpful in understanding.

    Very Clicky church.

Church is mainly about Pastor Stokes, his daughters, family, and whoever else is within the inner circle. Everyone else is just there as a 'quota'. This is the church that definitely makes you shy away from Christianity because there is nothing inclusive about it. They may be 'nice', but forget about being included at the 'table', which for supposedly 'fishers of men', it's just odd.

All in all, I agree with the other reviewer, that the church is more concerned about its older members than saving people. It's easier for them to just have reviews deleted than for them to listen to the 'non elites'. All the other good reviews here were written by the isolated 'elites' of the church that have their heads up in the clouds.

  • I've been going here for almost 8 years and have enjoyed everything about this church. Pastor Stokes' preaching is right on point and he exposits Scripture in a real and practical way. They use creative elements to identify and relate to the passage of Scripture or topic being studied each Sunday. Jesus often used elements of culture that He knew people would identify with and this church follows that example. I feel safe dropping my 21 month old son off every Sunday in the children's ministry too which is a big plus because I can be a helicopter dad. Love Expectation Church! Definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone!

  • Contemporary church with a fresh vision and heart for hurting people. Staff are a great group of people! Friendly! New facility awaits their future. Exciting stuff!
